This web site contains the story of Wendy Ruth Nickerson, an outstanding person who embodied the best of the human spirit. In 2005, Wendy was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a deadly form of bone cancer. Wendy's terrible cancer journey started with a persistent pain in her hip in mid-November, 2004, and ended with her passing on March 26, 2005.
Wendy was a teacher and guidance counsellor at Barrington Municipal High School on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Since 1997, Wendy helped students deal with some of life's difficult issues. Wendy was loved and appreciated by many of her students. Several poems for Wendy are here; other memorials to Wendy are here.
The Wendy Ruth Nickerson Memorial Bursary has been established to help students at Barrington Municipal High School to further their education. Details on how you can make a donation to the Wendy Ruth Nickerson Memorial Bursary Fund, along with a list of Bursary recipients, are here.
On June 26, 2004, Wendy married Brian Eisener in a beautiful country setting in Clyde River. Brian and Wendy were inseparable and very much in love. Their strong Christian faith helped them deal with the tragedy of cancer.
Wendy received her Master of Education (Counselling) degree in October, 2004. Further information on Wendy's education and history are here.
Wendy, we miss your loving, generous, caring and compassionate presence. Your 28 nieces and nephews had their lives forever molded by your love and attention. You are always in our hearts.
